| Comments: | Hi, I have just adopted a hound from the SPCA. She was found wandering the wildlife preserve near where I live and she is believed to be a hunting dog. I don't know what breed; longer and taller than a beagle, but with the same markings. She was shot in her ear... bird or rabbit shot I think, and her eye is cloudy from an old injury. I don't know anything about hunting dogs, but she is very, very sweet, very timid and submissive, maybe she was abused. Do you have any advice about helping her to become a companionship dog. She seems to just want to lay on the couch, which is fine with me, but I can't tell if she is depressed. When I take her out, she goes straight for the back of the car, like she wants to go on a hunt maybe. (I'm just guessing.) Any loud noises make her jump and tuck her tail. She has only been here for one day, but she still hasn't used the bathroom outside (not inside either) and I don't think she is used to going with a person so close. I just bought a l |
